Weekly TV Reviews: Charmed s3 ep1

The third season of "Charmed" picks up where the second left off. Literally. The first few episodes of the season are finishing off what wasn't filmed before productions were shut down. The episode picks up with Julian and the Faction with the Charmed Ones coming up with their plan to stop them. The episode also continues with Macy and Harry's attempts at starting a relationship.

Thoughts on "An Inconvenient Truth":

1.) Maggie & Mel

Maggie and Mel are tasked with interrogating Darklighter Jimmy and tensions are high. This is a humorous plot for the episode and gives a little more into the sister dynamics. As a way to help her sister, Maggie accidentally makes her older sister a little too calm. "Charmed" is noted for its humorous and often campy storylines which is part of what makes the show work so well. The show's footing is a little off thanks to being shut down before finishing out the previous season so every series has felt like it's playing catch-up as they finish out the seasons that were cut short. The humor is always appreciated in shows that often take deep emotional turns and seeing Mel cycle through various emotions creates plenty of comic relief.

2.) Macy & Harry

While her sisters interrogate Jimmy, Macy takes a trip to the dark market with Harry which gives the two a chance to discuss the status of their relationship. The conflict between a Whitelighter and a witch is at the root of Macy and Harry's problems with Macy ready to dive all into this relationship while Harry worries that he will fail at his duties due to his feelings. The romance between them is a nice wink back at the original series which had the most significant relationship being between Leo and Piper. We're eager to see some sweet moments between the two as they figure out where their relationship will go.

3.) Jordan & Abby

Elsewhere in the episode, Jordan is still working on breaking his curse which brings him to Abby for help and sends the two on their own adventure. The witch in the painting is a great callback to the original "Charmed" which featured a similar instance that the Charmed Ones had to face when they were trapped within a painting. We have high hopes that Jordan will find his way out of the curse and begin to live a regular life.

We're excited to see "Charmed" back but we're more excited to see the final we missed last season and to get to the plot of the third season.
