Binge Report: iZombie
Today on our special binge report, we will be discussing the CW series iZombie which ran for five seasons. To be entirely candid we are not zombie people. We watched one episode of The Walking Dead and it was the last zombie thing we ever watched. When it comes to the walking corpses that eat people, we aren't fans. So even though it was highly recommended, we must admit, we put off watch iZombie. Until now.
As we've made our way through the ever-growing list of shows to watch, we decided to be bold and courageous. We watched the pilot to iZombie and suffice it to say, we were hooked. Five seasons later and we were sad to see it over. The seasons were too short and five were just not enough.
Yes, the show is about zombies. Specifically, a zombie named Liv who started off on her way to doctorhood and marriage before going to a party and getting scratched by a zombie. So much happens in each season that it's crazy to think how much they fit into the plot in such a short time with Liv going from a zombie struggling alone to having a support system and being out and proud as a zombie to all of the world.
This show is hysterical and Rose McIver is absolutely amazing. The premise of the show finds Liv working in the morgue where she gets her brain supply. The pilot introduces her strained (and brief) relationship with her mom and brother, her ex-fiance Major (who is an on-off romance until the end), her roommate Peyton, her arch-nemesis Blaine, her murder-solving partner Clive, and her bestie-boss Ravi. She was happily working away in the morgue until her boss Ravi discovers her eating brains and is immediately on board the zombie train becoming her first and biggest support. He's also the one who spends his life after that searching for a cure for zombisim. Over the course of the show, Major falls hard off the sanity wagon and eventually becomes a zombie, Ravi becomes a half-zombie and gets together with Peyton who works briefly as the mayor, and Clive gets in the know and eventually gets married.
The show has a week-by-week murder with Liv eating the brains of the victim which causes her to get visions from the victim's life and also causes her to take on their personality traits. This results in some hilarious moments with Liv becoming the personalities of a rapper, a rich woman everyone hated, a 1990s pageant girl, and more.
We highly recommend this binge-worthy watch!
