Weekly TV Reviews: Charmed s3 ep6

The episode kicks off with Abby having returned to her role as overlord to the demons only for her sleep to disrupted by an unseen force dragging her across the road. Then cue an alien hunter believing to have seen an alien in the sky. Harry is also facing the crisis of age as his back has a crick and it sends him back into thinking about the obvious problem with Macy: he doesn't age and she does.

1.) Relationships

The quest for a cure is going slowly as the three sisters are trying to find a way to have relationships again. Ruby and Mel are dating long distance from five feet away with the two unable to physically be together without Mel getting zapped. Their relationship hits an emotional hiccup as Mel meets a friend of Ruby's who just happened to ask her out which sets the stage for the two to have a heart-to-heart about moving forward. Maggie and Jordan have also had to keep their distance for even curses count as magic. We've seen Harry and Macy's relationship this whole time so it's nice to see the other sisters dealing with their new dynamics now that magic is out of the question.

Abby comes to Mel for help putting an end to an evil spirit that's trying to kill her while Maggie faces her own problems in school. Maggie is brought up against her nemesis again only to learn that he wasn't responsible for the sabotage on her project. Jordan faces off with his own conscience at a law firm when he realizes the person he's helping build a case against may in fact be the victim. Maggie and Jordan have a great moment by sharing their current compromises with her getting back at her nemesis to learn it's not him and Jordan compromised his own conscience at the law firm. While her sisters struggle to make relationships work, Maggie wants it to be the year about focusing on her dreams and herself. She makes amends with Antonio and a truce to agree that they have enough negativity in their own minds to not be each other's enemy too.

Mel stages a stakeout watching scry glass in wait for Abby to be attacked. As she's still tiptoeing in her relationship with Ruby, she's starting to feel the weight of it, and once again the writing seems to be making the most of the potential connection she shares with Abby. We predicted currently when Ruby 'gives Mel an out' when she sees Mel with Abby after showing up at the house when she doesn't get an answer. Mel comes clean with the truth of how she feels to Ruby and seems to patch up their relationship, sealed with a couple of muffins.

2.) Land of Tin Foil Hats

Macy and Harry embark on another team-up which brings her to the alien hunter's door and after a quick test to see if he's magical, the two set about getting interviewed by him. He thinks they're alien abductees while they're trying to use that cover to get information from him in turn and of course, he makes a comment about how Harry's 'a little old for her'. In a serious twist, the two steal from the man only for his eyes to become white when he realizes what they've done. They get an orb that has a symbol linked to the ancient monsters they've been finding and gives them another clue toward finding the truth. Macy struggles to balance her witch life with her new rule as CEO of Safe Space which leaves Harry alone with the orb that seems to somehow infect him.

Could there be a fifth dimension? Macy theorizes that the objects, the light, and the creatures are all coming from another place - that Harry described as being a tomb or prison. The duo discovers that they accidentally set free dangerous monsters that were trapped in a magical prison.
