Book Reviews: The Perfectly Proper Paranormal Museum by Kirsten Weiss

Kirsten Weiss delivers a perfectly proper treat in this funny, charming, and delightful mystery. What happens when one of your best friends decides to start a tearoom? The answer: you end up with a paranormal museum you paid a dollar for. Maddie was fired from her job overseas after refusing to participate in bribes which gave her no choice but to return home. The good news is, she's reunited with her two closest friends. The bad news is, she now has a paranormal museum. The bright side is, this will give her something to do until she finds a job and comes with a handsome neighbor. The downside is, a body is found in the museum and one of her best friends is the prime suspect. The last thing she expected was to find a place for herself. Weiss explores Maddie's struggles going from this set path overseas to having to start over. She never expected to return home or to find a passion for a strange museum with paranormal oddities.

Everything about the Paranormal Museum was entertaining from the great characters to the top-notch humor to the twisty mystery to a handsome love interest. The story even provides a dose of family drama with Maddie navigating being back in close proximity to her mother and her visiting brother. The plot revolves around Maddie starting her life over and it begins with her using the paranormal museum as a way to stay occupied until she can figure out her next step. The museum is a delightful center for the story and even comes with its own Ghost Detecting cat. The murder occurs in the museum so the bulk of the story occurs within the museum where kooky situations such as ghostbuster types running around and an investigation into its mysterious history take place. Maddie and her friends are very different from each other but they also love and support each other, pulling together when one of them is accused of murder. Weiss has created a world within this town that makes you want to curl up with a cup of tea and stay awhile. It's clear that Weiss has the intention to explore the mysteries of the museum throughout the series which adds another layer to the plot. By the time the mystery is solved, you'll want to binge-read the whole series just to found out the secrets that will be uncovered next.
